Configure Standard Targets

  • Use Ratio KPIs​: In general, ratios make more informative comparisons. Also, targets against a ratio are valid for any time period or level of the business structure.
  • Do not mix ratio and non-ratio types:

    Calculations that mix percentages and fixed numbers will not be correct.

    The system does not validate these configurations and does not generate error messages.

    Do not select Non-Ratio for percentage (ratio) KPIs.

    Do not select Ratio for non-ratio (fixed number) metrics or KPIs.

    Do not configure both ratio and non-ratio types for the same KPI or metric. Otherwise, the report or dataview shows two columns with the same header for both types of target.

  • Have a plan​: Identify relevant KPIs that impact the klient’s business and labor costs.​ Understand the klient's goals to set targets that show the required insights.​
  • Create as many targets as you need: Targets do not count against the KPI limit of 200 active metrics and KPIs.​
  1. Configure the Function Access Profile (FAP) to give access to target management as follows:
    1. Kliknij Dotknij Main Menu  > Administration > Application Setup > Access Profiles > Function Access Profiles. 
    2. Select Manager—System Configuration.
    3. Select KPI Builder Setup and the following:

      Uwaga: In KPI Builder Setup, select Allowed in Access Scope to enable access to all KPI Builder settings.

      • For each of Mapping Categories, Metrics, or KPIs, select Allowed in any of Add, Edit, or View.
      • For Target Management > Standard Target Management, select Allowed in Access Scope.
  1. Select Main Menu  > Administration > Application Setup > KPI Builder > Target Management.
  2. Create or edit a target as follows:
    • Kliknij Dotknij Add .

      Select Standard Target.

      Enter a unique and descriptive Name.

      Przestroga :You cannot change the name once you save the target.

      Uwaga: Best Practice: Make the target names consistent and meaningful in the organization. Example: Create a name with the format: <Metric Name>_<Location Name>.

    • Select a target. Kliknij Dotknij Edit .

      In Save Changes to, select one of the following:

      • Save changes everywhere that the named entity is used — Save the changes to all current targets.
      • Save as a new named entity — Save the changes as a new target.

    • Przestroga :You cannot delete a target once it is created and saved. You cannot delete a target that has not expired.

  3. (Optional) Enter a Description.
  4. Select KPI or Metric and select the KPI or metric from the list.
  5. In Type, select one of the following:

    Przestroga :Changes to the KPI or metric apply to all targets that are associated with the KPI or metric.

    Uwaga: Most KPIs are ratios; all metrics are non-ratios.

    • Ratio — Defines targets against percentage KPIs.

      Przestroga :Make sure that the KPI is a ratio.

      Targets for ratios are not linked to a time period, they are valid for one day, month, or year.

      Example ratio KPI: Overtime Hours as % of Actual Hours

    • Non-Ratio — Defines targets against non-percentage metrics or KPIs.

      Examples: hours, duration, or currency.

      Targets for non-ratios are summarized by time period, so define an Evaluation Period of Daily, Weekly, Biweekly, Pay Period, or Monthly. The evaluation period is for information only and does not affect the evaluation or calculation of targets or thresholds.

      Example non-ratio metric:

      Late In Exception Count = Maximum of 10 Late-in exceptions per week

      Daily targets:

      Monday = 1

      Tuesday = 1

      Wednesday = 1

      Thursday = 2

      Friday = 2

      Saturday = 3

      Sunday = 0 (location is closed)

      Regardless of whether you count for 3 weeks or 3 days, the value is calculated correctly.

  6. Assign the targets to locations in the business structure as follows:
    1. Kliknij Dotknij Select Locations.

      You can assign targets to any level in the business structure down to the job.

      Przestroga :

      The location that you select includes that location only and does not select the child nodes within that location.

      • To select child nodes, kliknij dotknij Select Locations and navigate down the hierarchy.

        Example: If you select Organization, open Organization. Only then are those child nodes selected, such as the countries within the organization. You can de-select nodes, or navigate down the hierarchy to select more child nodes.

      • To select all nodes, kliknij dotknij Select All.
      • You cannot assign a target directly to employees. To apply targets to employees, select a location at the Job level. This job acts as the primary job, and the employees who are assigned that job as their primary job are assigned the target.
      • You cannot select a generic job.
      • Targets are not inherited between the same levels of a business structure.

        Example: Assign a target individually to different countries, locations, facilities, departments, or jobs.

      • The types of locations are not identified.
      • You can assign only one combination of the same target and KPI or metric to any location.
      • To check which locations have the targets applied, check the Locations Selected list.
    2. Navigate to and select a location. To go deeper into the hierarchy, click the small arrow button  on a parent node.
    3. Kliknij Dotknij Apply.
    4. To see the selected location with the full path, kliknij dotknij Show.
  7. Configure targets:
    1. Create or edit a target as follows:

      • Kliknij Dotknij Add . Enter a descriptive Name. Tip: Include the year. Example: 2020 Overtime Hours as % of Actual Hours
      • Select a target. Kliknij Dotknij Edit .
    2. Select the Effective Date when the target takes effect. Alternatively, you can select the Beginning of Time.
      Przestroga :
      • Only one target can be active during a time period; do not overlap the dates of targets.
      • When you run a report or dataview with target data, the target value is based on the target that is in effect on the end date of the time period.
      • When you run a report or dataview for a time period when multiple targets are in effect, the report or dataview shows the target that is in effect on the end date for the entire period.

    3. Select the Expiration Date when the target expires and is no longer active. Select Forever (internally, the value is 1/01/3000) for a target that never expires.

    4. Unit shows the display formats of the corresponding KPI or metric. You cannot edit these formats.
      • Duration
      • Currency: For cost-based KPIs or metrics
      • Percentage
      • Number

    5. Enter a Target Value as follows:

      • For ratio KPIs: enter a single value.
      • For non-ratio KPIs or metrics: Enter a value for each day of the week.

      The value can have up to 6 decimal places.

    6. Kliknij Dotknij Add or Update.
    7. Repeat for the next target.
  8. Configure thresholds:

    A threshold evaluates the value of the KPI or metric and indicates when that value violates the value of the threshold.

    Thresholds are not effective-dated and apply during the time period of a report or dataview run.

    1. Create, edit, or remove a threshold as follows:
      • Kliknij Dotknij Add . Enter a descriptive Name that clearly shows the purpose of the threshold. Use a consistent naming convention to make management and maintenance easier.
      • Select a threshold. Kliknij Dotknij Edit .
      • Select a threshold. Kliknij Dotknij Delete . Kliknij Dotknij Yes to confirm.
    2. Select a mathematical Operator: =, !=. >, <, >=, <=, Between, or Not Between.
    3. Enter a Threshold Value that is appropriate for the KPI or metric.
    4. Unit shows the display formats of the corresponding KPI or metric. You cannot edit these formats.
      • Duration
      • Currency: For cost-based KPIs or metrics
      • Percentage
      • Number
    5. Define the text that the report or dataview shows. Do one of the following:
      • Select a preset Indicator Text
      • Select Custom Text and enter your own text.
    6. Kliknij Dotknij Add or Update.
    7. Repeat for the next threshold. You can create up to 7 thresholds for a target.
  9. Kliknij Dotknij Save.

After you define a target, the system creates the following data columns that you can use in dataviews or reports:

  • {Metric/KPIName} Target: The target value for the assigned location or employee during the time period.
  • {Metric/KPIName} Threshold Value: Displays the threshold value when it is violated.
  • {Metric/KPIName} Threshold Indicator: Displays the indicator text when the threshold value is violated.
  • {Metric/KPIName} Evaluation Period: The evaluation period for a non-ratio target. Examples: Daily, Weekly

Migrate or transfer standard targets between environments and tenants by way of Setup Data Manager (SDM Menedżer danych konfiguracji przenosi i zarządza danymi konfiguracyjnymi w różnych środowiskach oprogramowania i sprzętu.).

  1. Select Main Menu  > Administration > Setup Data Manager.
  2. Select a Source.
    1. Select and open KPI Builder.
    2. Select and open Target Management.
    3. Select the targets.
  3. Select a Target.
  4. Kliknij Dotknij Review and Publish .
  5. Kliknij Dotknij Publish. 
  6. To see the detailed results, kliknij dotknij Go to Publish History.
